FAQs

How soon can you get here?

keyboard_arrow_down

Until we have developed our teleportation equipment it will be determined by the traffic and weather conditions in addition to workload.  Usually, we can be there within hours or the next day.

Is there anything you do not repair?

keyboard_arrow_down

We have avoided working in the field of rocket science.  Anything else....That is our game.

How can I prevent unexpected equipment failure?

keyboard_arrow_down

Preventative maintenance is key. A proper lubrication system and regular inspections can significantly improve equipment reliability. Additionally, operating machinery within its designed specifications helps prevent breakdowns.

What is compliant grounding?

keyboard_arrow_down

Compliant grounding ensures that electrical currents follow the path of least resistance through a conductor rather than a person. A properly grounded system includes a redundant neutral, and control transformers should have one leg of the secondary side grounded.

How do I know if my motor pump is overheating?

keyboard_arrow_down

A general rule of thumb is that if hydraulic oil exceeds 150°F, it is too hot. However, each system operates under different conditions. Understanding the manufacturer’s design specifications and maintaining thorough service records can help detect and prevent overheating issues.

Is it normal for my hydraulic pump to sound like it has rocks in it?

keyboard_arrow_down

No! A well-designed hydraulic system should operate quietly and without leaks. If your pump sounds rough, it could be due to air in the system, clogged filters, or faulty pump seals. Addressing these issues early can prevent costly repairs.

How often should I change hydraulic oil?

keyboard_arrow_down

Always follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for oil weight and quantity. If this information is unavailable, you can have the oil tested regularly or filtered to maintain optimal performance. MSC offers these services to help keep your equipment running smoothly.

Does MSC work with OSHA?

keyboard_arrow_down

While we do not report directly to OSHA, we follow OSHA standards and inform customers of any non-compliance issues we observe during service visits.

How can I ensure good plant air quality?

keyboard_arrow_down

Quality air starts with a properly maintained automatic dryer at the compressor and well-designed air distribution systems. Signs of poor air quality include rust, corrosion, blown seals, and sticking valves. If you experience these issues, MSC can help assess and resolve them.

Can air leaks in my compressed air system be costly?

keyboard_arrow_down

Absolutely. Even a small air leak can result in significant energy losses. For example, a single 1/8-inch air leak at 100 psi over 2,000 hours per year can result in:

31,314 kWh of lost energy
47.4 kW-month/year in peak demand waste
$1,103/year in additional energy costs

MSC can evaluate and repair air leaks to help improve efficiency and reduce costs.
